Ladies and gentlemen, Iron Stag King is open and a hit. Through trials and tribulations, and after an incredibly exciting process, our journey and my tale has finally come to an end.
Rory Leahy of Center Stage Chicago puts it best— “really my advice is ‘just go see it.”
It has been an honor to watch this play grow and come to life, and an excellent kick off to a new theatrical trilogy that marks a new era of adventure for the House Theatre.
Chicago agrees: Iron Stag King: Part One is “[an] expansive and arresting new production…ambitious and ebullient piece of original theater.” - Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune.
I’m inclined to agree with my fellow Chris here. More than anything, Iron Stag King is ambitious and unique, creating its very own Land with its very own mythology and history.
Unfortunately, I had yet to sit behind a steering wheel when the lauded Valentine trilogy put the name “House Theatre” in everyone’s minds. But the idea of a theatrical trilogy fits so perfectly with the company, and I haven’t stopped thinking about where Casper’s tale will bring him next.
I loved it, and already have plans to see it again.
Just because the quest is over doesn’t mean my writing is! Fear not, gracious readers. While the show is open, stay tuned to Open House for interviews with designers, a look at major changes to the play, and more!
